Exchange Your Student, Please

Wow! How long has it been since I wrote? Well, I finally got some news; We're getting an exchanged student! For those of you who don't know what an exchanged student is, I'll fill you in. An exchanged student is a kid who comes to your house from a different country, such as France or China or somewhere, and they spend time with your family. It could be two weeks or even a year. This is our third exchanged student. All of our exchanged students were boys, and they were all from France. I always get so excited when we get an exchanged student! Plus, all the exchanged students we've gotten have been there for my birthday! All of them stayed from February third to February eighteenth. My birthday is the twelfth. Exchanged students are so nice...I just can't wait!!

Employment

Hi, me again. Seems like it's been forever since I wrote. My Mom's going to come back from Colorado on Tuesday. She's been calling me almost every day. I miss her.

All my siblings have 'jobs', which means they get payed. I have a job too-taking care of animals-but no one really called. But now my G'ma offered me a job. My G'ma is legally blind, so she can't read books that well. One part of my job is to read to her. I love reading to other people, so that part of the job is great. The other part is fine, just not my favorite thing to do. I help her clean her house. But I always have fun with my G'ma, so it's fine. My job is every Saturday, it just started last Saturday. I got payed 2.50! And for me that's a lot of money! I'm glad I got money, but mostly, I like spending time with my G'ma!

A Plane Ride

This Thursday somebody's going to Colorado. Guess who; and no, not me. My Mom and Nicole! They're going there to see some friends. And they get to ride a plane! I want to ride a plane! I've always wanted to. But, maybe, in the summer, my Mom and me are going to go to New York City! I've always wanted to do that, too. I excited, but it's a 'maybe' still, so I shouldn't be too hopeful. That's all.

Wii

Nicole is actually taking this Finding Foods thing seriously. At first she was just doing it for fun, but now, she's doing a little 'show' and having a person to shine a flashlight on her for a spotlight! I don't think Nicole means to be so funny, but she is. Yesterday, during her show, she gave us each a piece of tortilla and said we could put anything that she had to offer on it (which was only tomatoes, cheddar cheese, almonds, and bacon). But the pieces of tortilla that Nicole gave us were only 2 inches each. It was difficult to make a sandwich.

My Mom's Birthday was only two weeks ago, and my brother Jacob gave her Wii Fit Plus. Mom let us use it and it's awesome! It has all these new games like skateboarding, Segway, kung-fu, and even flying...as a chicken! But it's been making a lot of fights over who gets to play it and for how long. We've got it worked out...almost. We also got Wii Music for Christmas. But I'll talk about that later. Wii is cool!

I guess I should also let you know my parents jobs. My Dad is a youth pastor at Franconia Mennonite Church. My Mom babysits for our neighbors, Mrs. and Mr. Ostlund (Who is my piano teacher). The toddler my Mom babysits for is named Noah and is 18 months old. He's a cutie. My Mom also has a teaching certificate and is on the sub list at Dock (a high school) and Penn View (an elementary school). Noah might be mentioned a few times in my posts for a little 'Noah Cuteness', so try to remember who he is. Noah has a huge vocabulary, for a toddler. He's very smart.

Maybe I should tell you what clubs I'm in at school. I'll list them; Reading Olympiads, Peer Mediators (where you solve arguments during 2nd grade recess), and I was in Math Olympiads, but I quit. Outside of school, I'm in SHYBA (a basketball league) and Girls Club at my church.

You know, I was really just writing this blog to do something. I'm a real talker. But that's all I have for now.

A Long Term Sub, Again.

Well, I just got more information about Finding Foods, Nicole's cooking thing. She gave me a flyer saying that Healthy Snack Week would start Monday the 18th and would end on Friday the 22nd. It also says to invite as many people as you can. On her flyer it says, and I quote, "I love hosting the show because it's just fun to make experiments with food and seeing what people opinions are like about the food." But maybe I should stop talking about Finding Foods and talk about something else. (By the way, If my posts get boring, please tell me!)

Right now I'm in fourth grade. I guess I should give you some back round knowledge before I get into my whole story. For preschool and kindergarten, my Mom home schooled me. We lived in Halifax at that time, a place near Harrisburg. Then, we moved to Franconia Township. I went to Franconia Elementary for 1st grade when we lived there. Then, we moved to Souderton, and I went to West Broad Elementary school there. I've been in West Broad Elementary for second, third and now fourth grade. In third grade I had a pregnant teacher, Mrs. Hostetter, and she only taught for three months before she had her baby. She  took the rest of the year off. Now, in fourth grade, my teacher, Mrs. McGowan, was pregnant and already had her baby. She only taught four and a half months. But the funny thing is, Bekah had a pregnant teacher third, fourth, and fifth grade. It's uncanny!!

The New Chef

Nine is usually a hard, difficult and stressful  age, not that 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 aren't. But 9 is ,to me, a place where you really start to grow up. Blogging, in my case, is part of that growing up. We will see how I take  that on.

Right now I am sitting at our family computer listening to my younger sister pretend to be Rachel Ray as my Mom contently listens. Maybe I should tell you about my family; My younger sister is Nicole, age 8. My older sister is Bekah, age 14. My older brother is Jacob, age 15. My Mom is Valerie, age 41. My Dad is Michael, age 49. But that's just so you know who everyone is in case I mention them. But, like I said, right now my sister Nicole is touching all the food and experimenting with it to see how it turns out. She calls her little 'show' Finding Foods. I think she's trying to be like Rachel Ray, but her foods don't always turn out as good. For example; yesterday during dinner, Nicole tried making celery with peanut butter and toasted it in the toaster. My Mom told her to call it Roasted Celery and she agreed. My Mom was supportive of this but asked if Nicole was actually going to eat her concoctions. When Nicole answered no, my Mom told her she had to eat everything she made, plus what she was served. So Nicole ate the Roasted Celery. I didn't eat it myself, and all Nicole said was that it was really chewy. But I know one thing; I will never eat toasted celery in my life.

Nicole always makes a big deal about little things when it comes to her cooking. Like when she applied the peanut butter on the celery, she used chopsticks. We all laughed, but Nicole told Mom to tell us to stop laughing. Usually, on Finding Foods, Nicole makes healthy foods. She said that this week was healthy meals and next week was healthy snacks. Her slogan is 'If you don't know where to look, come to Finding Foods!' She always says it in a sing - song voice. She even got Bekah to play piano while she sings it. Bekah is a 'big fan' of Nicole. But there's one thing that I'll remember; Nicole saying that she was on Ellen De'Generous.
